Prayer for the Philippines

Pray for the Philippines. Brooke heard from her friend and they are accounted for, but still need your prayers.

Grace Alone: Ministering to the Hearts of Women

I’m sure you are all already deep in prayer for the Philippines.  My good friend Thea lives there and I have not heard from her yet. Thai is a devoted follower of Christ and is involved in many aspects of ministry. She has a beautiful heart. Please  keep her and her loved ones in your prayers too as you lay down tonight. And don’t forget to give thanks for all the good things in your life.

“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.  I will say to the LORD, “My refuge and my fortress,  my God, in whom I trust.”

Psalm 91:1-2

Willing to Die

The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. Matthew 20:28 (NIV 1984)

Church bulletin of a soldier guarding a tomb

We live in a time when death seems an unnecessary sacrifice for any cause. Yet men and women have given their lives so that the world could be a place of freedom. How many people are dedicated to anything to the degree that they would die for it? How many of us would give up our lives if the opportunity arose, especially for future generations we will never see? Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people (Hebrews 9:28, (NIV 1984). Jesus gave His life for generations of people who did not even know Him. That is what the men and women in the armed forces did for our country. They sacrificed their lives for strangers, just as Jesus did. As we remember them, may we be reminded of the greatest Sacrifice of all.

Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.” (Acts 14:17 KJV)

Our Personal Trainer: Psalm 89:8

O Lord God of hosts, who is a strong Lord like unto thee? or to thy faithfulness round about thee? (Psalm 89:8 KJV)

A trend in the fitness world is to have a personal trainer—someone who assesses your physical status and creates a program to help you reach your goals. Lifting weights, running, swimming and new dietary measures might be a part of the regimen. Physical fitness serves us for a lifetime—spiritual fitness for eternity. Paul comments, Bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come (1 Timothy 4:8). Strengthening the spirit can be as time-consuming and painful as strengthening the body. Our resolve is often tested. The results, however, carry us triumphantly through this life and prepare us for the next. The Holy Spirit is our personal trainer, remaining at the side of those seeking a closer relationship with the Lord. He is not exclusive to those wealthy enough to employ Him. And He never resigns.

Well Do I Know My Guide

Well I Do Know My Guide

I know not the way God leads me, but well do I know my guide.

“Thus saith the Lord, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the Lord thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.” (Isaiah 48:17 KJV)
